  Which one should I download?

  TeeChat needs Microsoft WebView2. Use this:

  • Windows 11, or Microsoft Edge already installed → Standard (small).
  • Standard failed with “Failed to install WebView2”, or this PC cannot reach Microsoft download servers → WebView2 included.
  • Not sure → WebView2 included.

  Standard (~10 MB) WebView2 included (~210 MB)
  After you download

  Run the Standard installer. If it says it failed to find or download WebView2, close it and install the WebView2-included file instead.

  The WebView2-included installer is larger (~210 MB) and does not need Microsoft’s download servers. Run the .exe; if Windows SmartScreen appears, use More info → Run anyway after checking the publisher.

  About SmartScreen warnings

  The installer passes company OV signature verification. A SmartScreen warning usually means the new publisher’s reputation is still building — not an unsigned or malicious build. Confirm the publisher is Shanghai Lightec Technology Co., Ltd. Read the FAQ

  Apple Silicon (M-series Macs). Open the .dmg, drag TeeChat to Applications, then eject the disk image.

  x86_64 .deb — command-line install (see below)

  Command-line install only

  Download the .deb, then install from a terminal in the folder that contains it. Do not use Application Manager or Software Install — GUI installers do not reliably pull required libraries.

  sudo apt install ./TeeChat_0.28.1_amd64.deb

  Run the command above; apt will install WebKitGTK and other dependencies automatically.
